Unlocking Mirzapur’s VFX Magic: Crafting the Explosive Opening Sequence Revealed by Plexusmotion Directors in India’s VFX Revolution Series

The most recent installment of India’s VFX Revolution web series delves deep into the creation of the opening sequence for Prime Video’s Mirzapur, a renowned web series. Plexusmotion‘s Motion Design Directors, Vijesh Rajan and Yashoda Parthasarthy, share insights into the process of crafting the iconic opening title sequence. They shed light on the initial brief, creative concepts, objectives, and the dynamic interplay between violence and craftsmanship.

Exploring Mirzapur’s Opening Sequence for Prime Video Rajan and Parthasarthy start by revealing details about the initial brief received from the filmmakers. The brief outlined the series’ setting—a city dominated by Akhandanand Tripathi (portrayed by Pankaj Tripathi), known as Kaleen Bhaiya, the influential “kingpin,” with rival gangs in the backdrop. Kaleen Bhaiya’s carpet-making business serves as a front for his illicit activities.

Given Mirzapur’s thematic emphasis on violence, the directors proposed showcasing the intricate process of carpet-making alongside intense scenes from the series. This juxtaposition aimed to capture the dual reality of Kaleen Bhaiya and the city he controls. Notably, Mirzapur’s font and logo draw inspiration from the carpet-making process, featuring criss-cross edges reminiscent of a carpet’s fabric.
