UNION VFX OPENS FIRST INTERNATIONAL VFX FACILITY IN MONTRÉAL
Union VFX, a leading VFX and animation studio, is thrilled to announce the launch of its first international facility in Montréal, Canada. With over 15 years of experience in the industry, Union’s Montréal studio will expand its services to clients in feature film and high-end TV.
Located in a beautifully refurbished industrial building called Le Nordelec, between Griffintown and Pointe-Saint-Charles, Union’s Montréal studio will offer technical, creative, and production roles across all levels. The studio is currently recruiting talented individuals to join its Canada VFX team.
Union’s back catalogue boasts collaborations with Oscar and BAFTA winning directors, including Martin McDonagh, Danny Boyle, Sam Mendes, and Stephen Frears, working on a wide variety of projects ranging from period dramas to dystopian fantasies and everything in between.
Union’s success has allowed it to be financed without any external investors, making it a fully independent studio. The company’s reputation for working on story-led, director-driven projects is unrivaled.
Since 2020, Union has invested heavily in growing its CG team, resulting in exceptional VFX on recent projects, including For All Mankind, The Irregulars, Operation Mincemeat, Wheel of Time, Moon Knight, Pennyworth, and the multi-award-winning The Banshees of Inisherin.
Tim Caplan, one of Union’s co-founders, explains why Montréal was chosen for the studio’s first international facility, “Montréal was the ideal choice for us. Its location allows us to work with clients across multiple time zones, and the city has a generous tax relief system and an incredible pool of local VFX talent.”
With the ongoing upturn in film and TV projects globally, the timing was perfect for Union to expand its services to another region. “We are all hugely excited about this next chapter for Union,” says Tim Caplan.
Union has just completed work on The Power, a nine-part series for Amazon, which premiered recently. With its first international facility now open in Montréal, Union is poised to continue its success in the VFX and animation industry for years to come.
