Basilic Fly Studios Launches Lightrunner Studios in London, Focusing on VFX and AI
Basilic Fly Studios, an Indian-based VFX company, has expanded its operations to London with the launch of Lightrunner Studios. Lightrunner Studios will focus on providing VFX services for feature films, television shows, and advertising. The studio’s work will primarily focus on creating hero environments, animated creatures, and characters. Additionally, the London-based studio will have an R&D division, which will explore and advance the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in VFX workflows and processes.
Lightrunner Studio’s launch lineup includes VFX work for notable titles such as Gangs of London, Superman and Lois, and Swan Song. The new studio will be led by former MPC Global Executive Producer Christina Graham, who will serve as the head of the studio, along with Valter Sagrillo as head of computer graphics and Jamie Briens as head of pipeline.
Basilic Fly Studios, which was founded in Chennai, India in 2011, has grown significantly over the past decade, employing over 500 artists and developers globally. Balakrishnan Rajarathinam, the CEO and Managing Director of Basilic Fly Studios, expressed his excitement about the new venture, stating that Lightrunner Studio will explore and embrace the latest approaches of VFX workflows and processes that focus on AI and machine learning.
